Inquiry and Innovation through Design Thinking is a social science class I took. We are put onto teams of people with completely different degrees and are task to design a project based on The Design Thinking process of research which involves "Empathize" "Define" "Ideate" "Prototype" and "Test".
Our project we were given was to design a backpack. That was all the information we were given. So for the course of a few weeks we followed the design process and found out what people wanted in a backpack. And came up with this idea that every backpack is different and thus meet different needs for different people, so we would make a backpack that could be customization with attachable add ons, the idea being, "If you do not want to buy a big back pack, you don't have to, but you still have the option to buy add ons later".
I challenge myself to make a digital mock up of this backpack design in a manner of a
few hours to present as one of our prototypes. I wanted to learn more about Isometric perspective so I incorporated that into my design. The above design shows how the backpack can be three fold, two fold, or just a single pocket to meet different peoples needs and circumstances.
