Icon Project. As a design challenge I wanted to create recognizable icons that had similar word meanings but when viewed could still be distinguished as two separate things, that being the words they each represent. The words I used for this project was "Family" and "Children". Being so similar words, this was the challenge, getting people to recognize the icons and what they represent and to say what they are. After creation I surveyed people to see how effective each icon was at representing itself as the word. I made changes and surveyed people again until I reach the final product.
Family. This icon was 100% effective at representing "Family".
Children. This icon was about 60% effective at representing "Children".
